What You Should Know About Acne!

You are not alone. Acne can affect 80% of people at some point in their lives. Yes !! this is not just a teen condition. Adult acne is also common and it can persist into people’s ’40s and ’50s.

But what causes it and how can you treat it.

Let’s start from the beginning. Our bodies are the cold print!!!

Hormones called androgens. It occurs in puberty! Androgens cause sebaceous glands to enlarge and make more sebum in hair follicles. Inflammation of skin glands and of tiny, narrow canals in the skin known as hair follicles, acne is marked by pimples and other lesions, usually the result of clogged pores.  So basically, hair follicles harbour bacteria and removing it can be a solution to improvement!! But that’s not the only cause of acne. The other cause is hormonal changes and genetics also play a role in acne formation.

Ok so now that we know what causes it, how do we treat it.

No matter the treatment, product, and medication, acne is a process. Typically, the acne gets worse before it gets better. It’s the harsh truth, but we want to be honest with you.

When you come in for a skin analysis consult, we categorize your acne in 4 lesions: Papules, Pustules (pimples) Nodules and, Cysts.

Depending on the lesion of your acne, we customize a treatment program based on your individual needs.

We love Blue light to treat acne !!! No pain involved !!!

Let’s get technical on how it works. Blue light absorption produces free radicals in the sebaceous gland, which destroys the bacteria on the acne lesions; secondly, yellow light is used to coagulate the feeding blood vessels, improving their healing; and, finally, infrared light is applied to dry the lesions.

Depending on the acne, a series of 6-10 treatments is recommended in intervals of 1-2 weeks apart.

This treatment process usually results in a 60-65% reduction in acne and acne marks.

Ok so remember I said there is no pain involved !! This is because our technology uses a built-in cooling handpiece. Calming the skin and allowing us to combine the blue light with other treatments like microdermabrasion, hydra facials, peels and DermaPlaning!!!!

Which means the results can always be optimized !!!

Helping improve your skin is our passion. Let us be A PART of your journey. Let’s work together to make sure you love the skin you’re in!! Skin Bosses.
